Terms of sale and use

1. Purpose

This English translation is provided for convenience. The French version prevails.

These terms govern the use of the Build Our World website and purchases made on it by consumers. They apply to every order; each purchase records the version accepted. The publisher, NG WORKS, which runs the Build Our World brand and is referred to below as “Build Our World”, is identified in the legal notice.

To buy on Build Our World, you must be an adult, or have the agreement of your legal guardian.

These terms are written in French. Translations are provided for information: where they differ, the French text prevails.

At the date of this version, payments on the site are simulated (“sandbox”): no money is charged and no real sale is concluded. These terms will apply to real sales once they open.

2. What Build Our World offers

• An edition is a digital representation of a monument, divided into 1,000,000 bricks: small areas of the image.
• A contribution, or place, is a set of bricks you choose on an edition and pay at its price (section 4), with your signature (full name, initials, pseudonym or invisible, as you choose) and an optional message. It is displayed on the site as soon as it is paid. Each person has a single area per monument; new bricks enlarge it. They may also hold, on each monument, one place “for us”, signed with the two first names they give (“Léa & Hugo”), which grows the same way.
• A gift is an area you place for someone else, signed for that person, or for two people with their two first names: one per person and per monument, 20 at most per monument. It is handed over through a single-use link, e-mailed if you give their address, otherwise written in your receipt and in your account for you to pass on; once received, it becomes their area and they choose how their name appears on it. Until then, only their initials are public. A placed gift cannot be taken back.
• A gift voucher is a place of 25, 50, 100, 250 or 500 bricks, paid at its price (section 4), with no spot or recipient set: whoever holds its code chooses the spot themselves, on an open edition of the Signature of Wonders, within 12 months of its payment. It is used once, for their own place, never for a gift; a larger place pays only what its bricks add, like an enlargement, and someone who already has their area on that edition enlarges it by the voucher’s bricks. With its code, Build Our World provides a card to print; an e-mail can take it to the person of your choice, on the day you choose.
• The Signature of Wonders is the service for placing and signing contributions on an edition and ordering their souvenir.
• The printed souvenir is a personalised poster or framed print showing the edition and your bricks (section 7).
• With each place, Build Our World offers the place’s card: an image sized for a phone screen (1,080 × 1,920 pixels), with the zone’s PHOTO poster and the record of the place (its reference and date). It is attached to the receipt and can be downloaded again from the account, for personal use; it may be shared. It is not a numbered copy of the printed souvenir, which is ordered separately.

3. What a contribution is

A contribution is a symbolic gesture: your name and message appear in a collective digital work. It gives you:

• no right over the monument, its photograph or the collective work;
• no ownership, intellectual property or commercial right over the bricks;
• no financial value: it is not an investment, a digital asset or a resellable token; it cannot be resold or exchanged for money.

Your contribution is displayed for as long as the edition is operated on the site. If Build Our World were to stop operating an edition, you would be told at least three months in advance and could download your data and the digital souvenir of your contributions.

4. Prices

Prices are in euros. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code: NG WORKS, under the French VAT exemption for small businesses, charges none; the price shown is the price paid. The price that applies is the one shown when you order.

A place of the Signature of Wonders is paid at its own price, which depends on its number of bricks and is shown before you order:

• Up to 25 bricks: €5.
• 50 bricks: €9.
• 100 bricks: €16.
• 250 bricks: €35.
• 500 bricks: €65.
• 1,000 bricks: €120.
• 2,500 bricks: €250.
• Between two of these sizes, the price follows the line from one to the other, rounded up to the whole euro; beyond 2,500 bricks, each further brick costs €0.10, the total rounded up to the whole euro.
• Enlarging your place costs the difference between the price of its new size and that of the old one, €3 at least.
• A gift voucher costs the price of the place of its size. The place chosen with it costs nothing at that size; larger, it costs what its bricks add, €3 at least.

Printed souvenirs have their own price, shown before you order (section 7).

Currency. Prices are set in euros. The site can show them in another currency, as an indication, at the European Central Bank's reference rate of the day. Depending on your country, the payment page may offer to let you pay in your currency: the exact amount, converted by the payment provider, conversion included, is shown there before you pay. You can also pay in euros: your bank then applies its own exchange rate and may charge a fee.

5. Order and payment

You choose a place (its spot, its size, then its signature). Before paying, you tick one box: the request for immediate supply (section 6); by paying, you accept these terms, linked on the payment page. A place is ordered without creating an account first: at the payment you give your name and e-mail address, which open an account at that address (section 9). A place you choose is held for you for 30 minutes, the time to pay for it; once you go to the payment, it stays held for the whole payment page, that is 30 minutes from then. After that, or if the payment is declined, it is released. Payment is made with a payment provider, in euros or in your currency (see « Currency »), by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or another way of paying that confirms the payment at once and that the provider offers you depending on your country (for example PayPal, Klarna, iDEAL or Bancontact); Build Our World never sees or stores your card details. The order is concluded when the payment is accepted. A payment accepted after the end of that time, or for something no longer available (a place taken meanwhile), does not conclude the order: it is refunded to you in full, automatically, and an e-mail explains why. An e-mail confirms it, and the summary stays available in your account. Build Our World may refuse or cancel an order in case of a declined payment, fraud or manifest abuse, and tells you so.

For printed souvenirs, you check each one’s final preview (signature, message, size and frame) and add it to the cart. In the cart, you give the delivery address and method, the same for all its souvenirs. Then you check the summary: each souvenir and its price, what shipping them together saves, the total. You can go back to any step to correct your order. Before paying, you tick the box that confirms the preview and recalls that a souvenir printed for you cannot be withdrawn from (section 6); by paying, you accept these terms. The souvenir is printed as that preview shows it, without the previews' “Build Our World” watermark.

A single poster can also be ordered directly from the Workshop: you choose the delivery country, where its price is shown, economy delivery included; you tick the preview box (section 6) and give the address on the payment page, in that country. An address the poster cannot be sent to (an invalid postcode, for example) does not conclude the order: the payment is refunded to you in full, automatically, and an e-mail explains why. On a place's payment page, its PHOTO poster can also be added to the same payment, on the same terms: one box covers both the place and the poster; if the address does not allow the shipment, the place is signed and the poster's price is refunded to you.

A gift voucher is ordered without an account, like a place: you choose its size and, if you wish, the person’s name, your note, the e-mail address to send it to and the day it is sent (within the year); before paying, you tick the box that recalls its duration and its right of withdrawal (section 6), and by paying you accept these terms. It is held for you for 30 minutes, the time to pay for it. Its code is given to you after the payment, on the payment page and in the receipt, with its card; Build Our World keeps only a fingerprint of it and cannot retrieve it: as long as it has not been used, a new code can be sent to you from your account, and the former one no longer works. Its holder enters it when choosing their place, which is then held for them for 30 minutes like any place, the voucher with it.

6. Immediate supply and right of withdrawal

You have 14 days from the purchase to withdraw, without giving reasons or paying a penalty, within these limits:

• Places of the Signature of Wonders: by ticking the immediate supply request, you ask for your place to be signed as soon as it is paid. A signed place is a service fully performed at your express request: you lose the right of withdrawal once it is paid (art. L221-28, 1° of the French Consumer Code).
• Gift vouchers: you may withdraw within 14 days of the purchase as long as the voucher has not been used; it is then refunded in full and its code no longer works. Once a place has been chosen with the voucher, at the express request of the person using it, the service is fully performed: the voucher can no longer be refunded (art. L221-28, 1° of the French Consumer Code). It is valid for 12 months from its payment; after that, it can no longer be used and is not refunded.
• Printed souvenir: it is made from your bricks, signature and message; it is a clearly personalised good, excluded from the right of withdrawal (art. L221-28, 3°).

To withdraw, use « Change your mind about a purchase » at the foot of every page of the site: choose the purchase (or give its e-mail address and reference), click « Withdraw from my purchase here », then « Confirm withdrawal ». You may also send an unambiguous statement to contact@buildour.world, for example with the form in the annex, naming the order concerned. Build Our World acknowledges receipt at once by e-mail, with the date and time of your withdrawal, and refunds you within 14 days of your request, using the same means of payment, at no cost.

7. Printed souvenirs

The printed souvenirs of the Souvenir Workshop are made to order by a partner printer, in the workshop nearest to the delivery address.

• Poster: printed on 200 gsm matte art paper, in 30 × 40 cm (12 × 16 in), 40 × 50 cm (16 × 20 in) or 50 × 70 cm (20 × 28 in). In 30 × 40 and 40 × 50, the paper extends evenly around the design: the poster is never cropped or stretched.
• Framed print: the same poster in a classic black, white or natural frame (gold with the Gold Edition), behind acrylic glazing, without a mount.
• Printed colours may differ slightly from those on your screen.

Personalisation. The souvenir shows your bricks, your signature in the form you chose and your message. Once production has started, the order can no longer be changed. If you notice a mistake just after ordering, write to us at once: as long as production has not started, the order can still be cancelled and refunded.

Prices and costs. The price depends on the size, the frame and the delivery country; it is shown before you order, with the shipping cost of the method chosen. Ordered together from the cart, souvenirs are delivered to one address; what shipping them together saves on the shipping costs is taken off the total, shown before you order. Outside the European Union, customs duties or import taxes may be charged to the recipient by the authorities of their country; they are not included in the price.

Place + poster offer. A poster or framed print paid in the same payment as a new place of at least 100 bricks costs €6 less, within the price shown before ordering; the offer does not apply to an enlargement, a place paid with a gift voucher, or a print ordered separately.

Founding period. The first 500 places paid on a wonder (in the order of payment, gifts included, enlargements not) are founding signatures: their number appears on their card, their poster and their public page, and the Gold edition option is offered on their first poster ordered in the Gold edition, once per place. For a poster paid with its place, the offer applies when fewer than 500 places are paid at the moment it is added to the payment.

Launch price. Framed prints of the Signature of Wonders may be offered at a launch price for a limited time: the reduction, its end date and the price that will apply afterwards are shown before you order.

Delivery. We deliver to the countries offered at order (countries under embargo or sanctions are excluded). Budget shipping is the default; standard or express shipping is offered at its price. Standard shipping is free, and then the default, once the order’s items reach the amount shown in the cart; that amount depends on the delivery country and the items, and is at least €80 in France. The delivery time of each method is shown before you order and repeated in the confirmation e-mail; failing that, the souvenir is delivered no later than 30 days after the order. A tracking link is sent to you as soon as the carrier provides it.

Address. Check the delivery address: a parcel returned because of a wrong or incomplete address, or not collected, may be shipped again at your expense.

Delay. If the souvenir is not delivered within the time announced, you may ask us to deliver it within a reasonable additional period. If it still is not, you may end the order and be refunded all sums paid, no later than 14 days afterwards, as the French Consumer Code provides.

Damaged parcel or faulty souvenir. If the souvenir arrives damaged, has a printing defect or does not match the order (size, frame), write to us at contact@buildour.world with photos of the parcel and the souvenir, if possible within 14 days of receipt. We have the souvenir reprinted and sent again at our expense or, if that is not possible, we refund you. We may ask you to send the damaged item back; the return costs are then refunded to you. These commitments come on top of the legal guarantees (section 8), which apply in every case.

Risk passes to you on delivery. As a personalised good, the printed souvenir carries no right of withdrawal (section 6).

8. Legal guarantees

Consumers benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (two years from supply; arts. L224-25-1 to L224-25-31 of the French Consumer Code), the legal guarantee of conformity for goods (two years from delivery; arts. L217-1 to L217-32) and the guarantee against hidden defects (arts. 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code). The full statutory notices are reproduced in the French version.

9. Your account and your content

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your password secret. Your signatures and messages must respect the law and the rights of others. Refused: insults, hate, sexual, violent or misleading content; a third-party trademark or name without right; personal data of others, except the name (and, to send them the gift, the e-mail address) of the person you give an area to, with their agreement.

A place ordered without an account opens an account at the e-mail address given at the payment, without a password. The receipt's link, valid for 30 days, confirms that address and signs you in; you can then choose a password, or ask for a new link with “Forgot your password?”. If an account already exists at that address, the payment page says so and asks you to sign in to it: the place, still held, joins that account and is paid with it (a place that account cannot receive, a second place of its own on the same wonder, is released). Until that link is opened, that address opens no other account: a sign-up, or another order without an account, at that address is asked to open the link first; opened in the same browser, it also brings what is held there. Such an account whose order was not paid is deleted after 7 days.

You allow Build Our World to display and reproduce this content on the site, in the souvenirs you order, for as long as the edition is operated. Any other use, including advertising, requires your consent.

An account nobody uses for 3 years (no sign-in, no visit with the session open) is deleted. An e-mail announces it a month before, to the account’s address; signing in is enough to keep it. Deletion erases the e-mail address, password and preferences; paid zones stay on the wonders, signed as you chose, for as long as the edition is operated.

Build Our World moderates published content. Content that is unlawful or breaches these terms may be hidden or removed, with an explanation; your bricks remain yours and your contribution stays displayed without the removed content. In case of serious or repeated breaches, the account may be suspended after notice.

10. Availability of the service

Build Our World strives to keep the site available at all times but cannot guarantee it: maintenance or incidents may interrupt it. If the service stops for good, you are told at least three months in advance and your data stays downloadable until the end.

11. Liability

Build Our World is liable for damage caused by a breach of its obligations, as the law provides. It is not liable for non-performance due to force majeure, nor for failures of the network or of the devices you use. You are responsible for the use of your account and for the content you publish (section 9). Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law guarantees you as a consumer.

12. Personal data

How your data is processed is described in the privacy policy.

13. Consumer mediation

For any complaint, first write to Build Our World at contact@buildour.world. The mediator can only be approached after this written complaint. The mediator’s clause, in French as it supplied it:

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, you may bring proceedings before the court of the place where you lived when you ordered or when the harmful event occurred.

15. Changes to the terms

Build Our World may change these terms; the version that applies to a purchase is the one you accepted when making it. Changes concerning the use of the site are announced in advance.
